creating a cosy reading nook
With life being so hectic and busy all the time it’s nice to be able to create a little space in your home we’re you can just sit and enjoy a cuppa with a good book. This is one of my favourite things to create and where possible I always try to design a cosy reading nook in people's homes. There's nothing quite like curling up with a good book in a comfortable, inviting space. Here’s how you can you create your own perfect reading nook in your home.
One: Choose the Right Location
The first step in creating a cosy reading nook is to choose the right location. Ideally, you want to find a quiet, peaceful spot in your home that gets plenty of natural light. A corner of your bedroom, a sunny spot in your living room, or a quiet corner of your home office can all be great options.
Two: Find the Perfect Chair
The next step is to find the perfect chair. You want a chair that is comfortable and supportive, with plenty of room to sink in and curl up with a good book. Look for chairs with soft, cushioned seats and backs, as well as supportive upholstered armrests.
Three: Add Some Soft Furnishings
Once you have your chair in place, it's time to add some soft furnishings. A cosy reading nook should be filled with soft, plush cushions and throws. These can be in a variety of colours and textures, depending on your personal style. You can even add a small rug to zone the space and give your toes a warm spot to land..
Four: Add a side table or Shelf
To make your reading nook even more functional, consider adding a small table or shelf. This can be a place to keep your books, a cup of tea, or a reading lamp. A small side table or bookshelf will be a great addition to your cosy reading nook.
Five: Add Some Ambiance
Add some ambiance to your reading nook. This can be in the form of soft lighting like a table lamp or floor lamp, which is also practical when you are reading in the evening. Light a scented candle and you’ll be transported to a dreamy, cosy wonderland.
Creating a cosy reading nook in your home doesn't have to be difficult. With a little bit of planning and some careful attention to detail, you can create a comfortable, inviting space where you can escape into your favourite books. So go ahead and create your own little reading nook, and get ready to curl up with a good book!
